Last updated April 11, 2026 · These terms apply to all repairs and services provided by Electronics Doctor.
By using our services, you agree to these terms
When you request a quote, send us a device, approve an estimate, or pay an invoice, you’re agreeing to these terms as they stand on that date. We may update them occasionally — the “last updated” date at the top always shows the current version. It’s worth checking back if you’re a regular customer.
Diagnostics
When you send us a device, you’re authorizing us to examine it to figure out what’s wrong and what it will take to fix it. We won’t start any actual repair work until you’ve approved a quote.
Heads up: Diagnostic fees apply and are non-refundable, even if we can’t ultimately fix the device.
What we promise — and what we don’t
We do our best work on every device, but we can’t guarantee a specific outcome unless we’ve put it in writing. Repairs are complex — especially on devices with prior damage, liquid exposure, or previous repair attempts.
- If we make a genuine attempt to diagnose or repair your device, that time and any parts used are still billable even if full restoration isn’t possible.
- If the main issue is improved but not 100% fixed, or if unrelated faults exist, the service may still count as rendered.
- Refunds are only offered where required by law or where we’ve agreed to one in writing.
Payment
Most repairs require prepayment in full or in part. We accept online payments via Helcim or e-transfer — no other payment methods are accepted. For mail-in repairs, return shipping is charged upfront.
Non-payment & chargebacks: If an invoice goes unpaid, we may hold your device for up to 30 days from the due date. After that, uncollected devices may be sent to salvage or e-waste at our discretion. Unresolved chargebacks may be sent to collections, and future service may require prepayment or be declined.
Warranties
Unless we’ve written something specific on your work order, we don’t offer a general warranty on repairs. Any warranty that does apply is limited to the specific replacement parts we installed, and is subject to that part supplier’s terms. We don’t extend or re-activate your device’s original manufacturer warranty.
Your data & device risk
Please back up your data before bringing us your device. We are not liable for data loss.
- Repair work can involve heat, cleaning solvents, component removal, and other processes that may permanently alter a device’s condition or appearance — even when done carefully.
- We are not liable for pre-existing faults or hidden defects that only show up during diagnostics or repair.
- Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid us for that specific service.
We may keep diagnostic notes, logs, and photos for internal quality, training, and legal purposes. If we use such material publicly (e.g. for documentation or marketing), we do so without identifying you personally.
If something isn’t right — rework
If you have a concern about the original reported problem, please let us know promptly and give us a chance to take another look. If we re-examine the device and resolve the original issue, that work order is considered complete. Secondary or unrelated faults found later may need a separate quote and work order.
Your responsibilities
- Tell us the full story — prior repairs, liquid damage, any modifications. Accurate info helps us do better work.
- Confirm you’re authorized to make decisions about the device.
- Don’t send devices containing illegal content. We may be required to report certain findings to authorities.
- If a device poses a safety risk (swollen battery, severe damage, contamination), we may refuse or stop service.
Turnaround times
Our goal is to complete repairs in 14 business days. Expediated and priority service is available for a premium.
All estimates depend on parts availability, holidays, and staffing. Delays beyond our control (weather, supply chain, etc.) don’t entitle you to a refund unless required by law.
Uncollected devices
We’ll contact you when your repair is done. If you haven’t collected or arranged shipping within 14 days of that notice, the device may be considered abandoned and disposed of per applicable law.
If storage has been agreed in advance, fees of CAD $1/day may apply, up to the device’s estimated second-hand value. We may waive these fees at our discretion when you collect on time.
Disputes
If something goes wrong, start by contacting us through the contact form at electronicsdoctor.ca/contact. Give us a chance to investigate and make it right before pursuing any formal process.
Except where prohibited by law, disputes are resolved through binding individual arbitration in Nova Scotia, Canada — not in court. Class actions and jury trials are waived to the extent permitted by law. These terms are governed by Nova Scotia and Canadian federal law.
